So I drive for miles to go hunt. I take time off work. I study the lessons of others. I work on my shot with bow and gun. I purchase scent cover and special clothing. I keep my boots in a bag with leaves and dirt. I practice calling in the car when no one is around.

What is my reward? No deer down so far but when I step out my back door to let the dog in the house I see four doe staring at my dog!!! In a woods that's surround by my neighborhood and can't be more than 2 acres.

Seriously?!?! I'm out of city limits. Wonder if I could drop one with my crossbow quick enough that the neighbors wouldn't notice me dragging it to my truck in the driveway?

Here's a pic of the one who decided to let me take her picture to add personal insult to the matter.

I'd say, go for it! Or, better yet, I'd put up a tree stand right there beside the dog kennel, if there are no restrictions.

No need for a stand, my deck is seriously like 8 feet behind me. Maybe a 30 yard shot if even that.

A few years ago when I lived on the southside of Indianapolis I put up a tree stand on the 3.5 acre yard and shot an urban buck that died in my neighbors small field. Now, everyone owned 2 to 5 acres in the neighborhood and hunting was legal so I shot doves, geese (fly overs), fox and deer in my yard. Had the lady behind me call one evening after I had shot a goose as it flew over and ask if I had been shooting. I thought, here we go. But, instead, she said her husband had also killed one and it had landed on the roof of his house and he didn't have a extension ladder big enough to get on his roof. So, she wanted to borrow mine. Post up a picture of your backyard harvest when it happens!

I feel your pain. I have been hunting my arsh off in bow season and gun season and can't hardly even see a deer. Last Sunday I hunted till 11:00am and saw nothing. I then walked around a good bit carrying my shotgun and never seen so much as a track. So I head home to set out some traps. I get everything loaded on the 4 wheeler and drive right past my tractor shed(Which is 100 yards from my house)and stopped. I grabbed a DP coon trap and walked 2 steps from my 4 wheeler and heard one heck of a racket, I looked up and see a good 8pt looking back at me 40 yards away. All I had was a darn trap in my hand. I almost threw the darn trap at him. I then threw the trap back in the bucket and put all my traps back up and went hunting. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!

Here we go laugh laugh Gotta have TWO categories..... #1 is shooting through a window or door while both feet are IN the house, and #2 while standing outside!!! Off the back deck/porch counts as outside! laugh

twthomas, I'd put up a camera back there. You might catch a real toad moving through there!

Ha.. that is too funny! I just purchased a house on 3.5acres and have some deer that cross the property I keep my gun safe close to backdoor in the walkout basement just in case one chooses to investigate the landscape!
