Shot this Mulie last week south of Sherian WY. 180 yards away with a rifle. Mid day, it was sleeping in the shade. Great hunt, probably one of the best I have had, top 5 for sure. 4 year old, 15" G2's 23.5" wide. Saw 15 or so bucks and 30+ does a day. This was the second best one that we saw. A friend shot the other one on opening morning. 5x7 w/25.5" spread. we saw 4 to 8 others that were 4x4's but were 3 year olds and no mass. After that we did some Prairie Dog shooting. Thats probably going to be one of my next hunts/shoots to do. Double lung shot. Long G2's

Shingle, congrats on a very nice mule deer! Also, very nice shooting at 180 yards. A classic double-lung shot usually gets the job done!
May all our hunts be safe, enjoyable, and deeply appreciated.

The guide spotted the deer while I was looking at a couple of other stag bucks that were still in velvet. I got over and looked at him. Being a 3x3 it was not really want I wanted to shoot. After looking at it for a few minutes and waking it up from its nap (doe in distress call)so we could see how wide it was I knew it would be a great trophy. I was using my 280 Ackley, a rifle that I am fairly comfortable with. Dialing up the power on the 12x scope the deers body filled up the scope. Proper grip on the rifle, tip of the finger on the trigger, squeeeeeeze....boom. Deer jumps up and runs up hill 10 yards. Im reloading my single shot encore, and was just told that I missed. I turn the scope back down to 4 power to find the deer, then turn it back up to 12x. I could see a red spot where the 140 gr barns BT bullet exited. I cocked the hammer back and squeezed off another round. Buck jumps, runs another 10 yards and crashes in the sage brush. Both shots were a few inches apart and both went through both sides of the lungs. We had to cut the deer in half to get it back out of the valley to the truck. Thanks guys

Yep excellent. How do muleys taste compared to whitetail. I know diet is a big thing. Just curious. Good job

Did you have a lot of hoops to jump through to bring back the animal from a CWD state ????

Good job All they eat is tips off of sage brush, so I would assume it would taste like that. I do not know yet, we just finished the last pack of 2012's deer last night.
