Just confirmed the Beck buck, 2nd largest nontypical killed by a hunter will be on display during the Deer&Turkey Expo in Indianapolis on February 20-23 this year!

This will be the center on the Hoosier
Hall of Fame, the only deer on the center board so quality photos can be taken.

Show opens at 11:00 both Thursday and Friday, Saturday 9:00 Sunday 10:00.

I am told this will be the only time it will be on display, at least here in Indiana.

There will not be deer scoring on Thursday evening, we will score after 4pm on Friday, all day Saturday and until noon on Sunday. Scoring is charged $15.00 per deer whether it makes the HRB or not, B&C, P&Y and Longhunter(muzzleloader) all have additional fees as well as costs for pictures if needed.

If you want to save a few dollars bring pictures of the rack or mount. You need three for each category entered., front, left side, right side, HRB needs a set, P&Y if applicable needs a set and so on.

Looking forward to another great year of scoring!

We went to the expo today, not too crowded. We got to meet Mr.Tim Beck and shake his hand. What a deer! I also bought 2 jars of HOT Horseradish, that stuff is GOOD.

I went yesterday morning, it was packed and not really much fun due to the huge crowd and literally no room to move... I think I will try to get there on an off day/time next year.

I had a great time at the Expo yesterday. I bought some stuff for my climbing stand from Third Hand Archery. I bought a Mathews hoodie for the wife. I met Tim Beck, very humble guy considering the deer he had on the wall. I attended Fred Eichler's elk hunting seminar which ignited a fire to make it out west soon. I had a chance to meet Fred and chat with him afterwards. I felt like a little kid meeting one of his favorite baseball players...

Pictures really don't do justice for the Beck Buck...

^^ +1 ^^ It would be AWESOME just to see a monster like that walk by, let alone harvest one.
I live less than 10 miles from where the Beck Buck was taken. I hope his offspring are thriving, and come by my property for a "visit" someday. smile

IT amazes me that a spot with that much pressure produced a Buck like that. How would you like to be the guy in that story that had to let that monster walk buy because he was tagged out? That would suck.

Mr. Beck was talking to the fellow when I ran into him yesterday. They went behind the fence to take a picture together with the buck. I thought that was a nice gesture on the part of Mr. Beck.

Haven't seen any trail cam pics with my own eyes, but I have heard some claims of trail cam pics.

As I was looking at that entire wall, i couldn't help but think Indiana's trophy opportunities must not be all that bad. Unless the goal is for everyone to have one, but then It wouldn't be special. Therein lies the rub.

Great observation. Certainly many that I talked to at the show seemingly were more concerned at this point over the number of deer they were seeing then the mature buck issue. I think a lot of folks are waking up to the fact that they might in the future just be happy to see a few deer.

There where SIX 200 inch Deer measured on Sat at Indy Expo.....

The B&C percent measured was up.... per the man in charge!!!

I believe I heard there was around 170 deer measured the entire weekend!!!

yep, all I know is that there was no shortage of really nice bucks on that HRB wall and a steady stream of other really nice bucks coming in to be measured at the show.

The taxidermist I know who lives in Allen county quit taking heads because he had his quota for the year. He does it as a sideline but he gets a lot of repeat business.

Maybe some of the taxidermist charged themselves out of business...???? h.h.

The show ran for 38 hours over 4 days, I was there for all but 6 hours. The overwhelming comments were the lack of deer being seen thispast season.

I picked up my buck from last season at my taxidermist yesterday, his comment was he was down 40% percent from the season before and that season was down 15%. His charge for a mount is $350.00. Pricing is not the issue, he has more small bucks he mounts than those that are mature every year. I think when the numbers are reported we will see the deer kill was down and bucks will be an equal percentage down.

Who is to blaim? Not the DNR, they didn't force anyone to pull the trigger. DNR has created at least two generations of hunters that we have too many deer. Many are now seeing the result of indescriminate shooting.

I also learned from CJ Winand(speaker at the show and a good friend)that we HAD 4 strains of EHD, now they have identified 4 more strains. Deer in the south have built a resistance to original strains but there is a concern about the new ones. Indiana deer have only been exposed to EHD for a short period of time.

Hunters have the deer management in their hands, it is up to us. That is unless DNR cuts antlerless permits back to one per person, and who thinks that will happen?

From what I've read Beck is a good guy.. Great to hear someone out there has the right stuff and did not shoot that buck

I let a good 150 plus class buck by in 06 after tagging out the week before. , was just awesome seeing it.
