Found this yesterday dead in the creek that runs through my property. It was less than 100 yards from my best stand. Picture doesnt do it justice, it has pretty good mass and is probably a mid 130,s 8 point. Would have been a dandy next year. I dont know the cause of death as the scene was only bones. Not sure how long it has been there?

I'm sure there's a lot of those situations out there. From the look of the truck, you had some bunnies for dinner and make a duck in your future.

Yes we had some bunnies and a couple of ducks we jump shot from a ditch creek. Thats when i found the dead buck.

Dont you have to get a permit/OK from a CO to keep those nowadays ??

that's the law but rarely followed.

Jeff, yes the CO needs to be notified and give a transportation tag for all dead deer found. Provided they can or will determine a cause of death, then they issue a transportation tag. because this was in close proximity to water it was assumed to be EHD? But who knows?

So where you able to get a tag for your find?

EHD was the reason the law was put in place.
