EHD wiped 'em all out. All of them. I hear the area 4 miles east of Rockville was particularly hard hit.

Would also be interesting to know if he is aware that once money changes hands he is 100% liable for anything that happens to a leasee of that property.

That is what contracts are for. Ive lease for 17 years.... I'm looking for a new lease, however that is a tad far for me to drive....Between me and my buddy we will go to 3K for a good lease...why do I want to lease ... 1) to have exclusive right to it and plant food plots if we decide to.... 2) so I can keep other aholes off of it.... I dont play well with others ....

is the pipline coming right through your $3000 lease? The problem I have is the leasee has very little rights, can't remove trespassers, etc.

That's what's holding me up as well. I'm about to give in and test the waters, but when I pay thousands and end up running into the landowners grandson or nephew in my stand on opening morning... A "My Bad" isn't gonna cut it. It happens ALL THE TIME too.

I would be willing to pay a simple "trespass fee" and deal with that kinda crap, but leasing it for a season or preferably for several... The grandson should be going to jail with an invitation to buy back his gear and truck at the auction.

Couple of buddy's are leasing and there are people renting a house on the same property they are leasing. The renters know when my buddy's are there because their trucks must park in a certain place. Therefore they are hunting it a lot when my buddy's are working. That's BS

I don't think that is true anymore with the agritourism bill that passed a couple of years ago. I could be wrong though.

I'm a capitalist and we all joke but hey he can ask, right? I mean ferb made an offer to hook up Hs in this very thread. I really don't see a difference. Yea I joked about it because to me that's an obscene asking price and seems odd at best. Who knows, maybe he hit 5 forums and somebody just had a bad day and thought, what the heck sounds like an idea. I agree w brew I don't c where he broke some rule!

Ferb - I looked at several leases this yr and will most likely pull the trigger next yr or buy. Wow did I see a huge variation in pricing between leasors and asking prices on comparable tracts.

my statement was more intended to be a joke. but im afraid we are headed towards being a state where you either hunt public orpay to hunt. and in my pea brain i dont see the point is leasing/ paying for the ground to hunt on. private ground will be a thing of the past.

Hard to keep up with everything. This was one reason I was against the agritourism law.

Yes, it does happen all of the time when a landowner is not living on the property keeping an eye on it for you.

We have done multiple hunting leases and I felt this was a fair amount to ask. The market drives the price. I have seen others advertise weekend hunts for 2 people costing the same money.
We leased it to the first guy that looked at it and I had multiple other people interested.
I don't understand all the negativity, many people are not fortunate to have EXCLUSIVE rights to hunt a property and are interested in what we were offering. another fellow forum member is the one that suggested I offer it on this site.
It was high quality property with large deer population. This site is for sharing information and not to be an *** to a first time poster.
The lease helps me cover a small % of my holding costs. If you aren't interested, that's fine, but larger parcels are more difficult to find and there is a need.
Apparently, it was priced appropiately. We got paid by the first person that walked the property.

After the opening weekend I had on publicI'd have to consider leasing at some point. Just too much money for me. I don't want deer hunting to end up being a sport for the rich. Only paid for a guided hunt once and have never leased. Hate to have to do it but it'd be nice to be the only one to blame if a place gets screwed up. Its all about controlling a big chunk and not overpressuring. That can take a lot of acreage though.

This is the first year I have leased. Until I'm able to buy property(5yrs), I will continue to lease, it helps to have a buddy that lives next door to it and also leases most of the ground with in sight of my lease. Someone always has eyes on it, plus we have a place to camp and store equipment.
