I bought a Rossi youth combo for my grandson, the .22 was good even put a scope on it. The 20 guage kicked like a mule! I shot it and had a friend shoot it also, we both agreed it was not youth friendly. Let my grandson shoot a youth 870 Remington in 12 guaage and he was good to go. Also just to let you know my grandson is not on the small size for his age, and has never been afraid of recoil. The Rossi shotgun is brutal, also the barrel is to thin to mount a scope, not my opinion but that of a gunsmith.

Hope this helps in your decision.

Agree with Joe on the 20. We have a .22 and .410 which is okay BUT I borrowed a 20 and tried it out and refused to let Luke shoot it. Not a very fun gun to shoot even with extra recoil pads on it.

Now with some of the combo's I have heard good things w/ the muzzleloaders and kids using them. We shoot a .44 which maybe available to you as well. I would highly recommend that.

Thanks for the suggestions - also with talking with 76Chevy, that makes 3 similar opinions on the Rossi 20 gauge!

Looks like the only time Rossi throws in a .44 is on the 3-4 barrel sets.

Anyone have a youth .22 they would part with?

I've got a pink (yes pink) Cricket .22 w/ scope, leather strap, and soft case.
