Hunted everyday but two with a bow.. just because I haven't been able to for over a year. Plenty of shots but not the one I'm after. The gun is tempting me but the challenge is not near as great!
I'm having a great season anyway.. good to be back in the game!

Hunt on!

I have tried to go bow only several times. Usually end up with the muzzle loader in hand. I bought a Savage 220 this year for something different. Haven't used it yet...as it gets colder I tend to lean towards the firearms. Sitting in low teen temps and watching them walk because I have too, not because I want tends to make me pick up firearms.

I am with Bean on this one. I haven't hunted with a gun the past two years and have not missed it one bit.

It'll either happen with my long bow, or it won't happen. Likely the latter........

I think I am still in the have to get a "big" deer stage. I have only shot a couple really big bucks and feel this odd pressure to get a couple more. I think part of it has to do with missing a few seasons with deployments and such. Shooting does with a gun has lost some of its zip but the big boys still make my heart skip a beat, gun or bow.

Man I envy your situation. I would just like a shot opportunity this year. I have seen a handful of deer this year all button or little bucks. I am at the if its brown its down stage now, time to fill the freezer.
Good luck, if you have meat in the freezer or just want the challenge I say stick it out at least until Muzzleloader season.

Dude if you are having a blast using your bow then I say go for it and best of luck...

But for me, I look forward every year that I can put my bow in its case and get out something a whole lot better and more worthwhile to use (IMO).... My 12 gauge....

If I could use my gun in October I would sell my bow in a millisecond and never mess with archery again...

No friggin' way B78...I'll take my bow over a firearm any day, any week, any year ....the challenge is way more thrilling...I'd have rather killed my Dunes deer this season with a bow than a fire arm...now I do love my guns and will continue to gun hunt from time to time.....However, I always have and will prefer archery .... anyone....anyone can shoot and kill a deer with a gun, it takes a special person/hunter to do it consistently with archery gear..... bowhunting has honed my skills to where IF I decide use it, I'm a better gun hunter....
