Darn impressive.

Ill be the first to ask this but why not just put the whole branch in the box instead of shacking them off into the box? By the way i enjoyed the vid. h.h.

HH. Usually the branches are to big for the hive body. When you shake then in to Box I usually have the frames and old comb in there for them. They then orient to the box and you take them home. Of course IF you have the queen. The shake does not hurt them and if you leave a branch in there they will start to build comb and that would be a total mess. Good question. Here is our one from today. Luke did his first swarm shake. The bees were really gentle. First one is a video.

Very cool, so does that mean the queen was definitely in the box?

It's hard to soar like an eagle when you're flying with a bunch of turkeys.

H E L L ... NO!

Not this boy. I will admit that I am a panzy when it it comes to all things that fly and sting.

That being said, that is pretty cool video to see.

I was that way too until I learned the biology of the honeybee and have the experience of working them a bunch.

People freaked out when I cupped the swarm in my hands and scooped them in the hive body. Actually, a swarm is very very gentle. I have caught 6 this year so far and stung how many times - 0.

I'm not doubting you at all and I think the whole thing is cool.

I freak out around bees. Always have and I cannot explain why. Some weird phobia thing that I have I guess. Bees, wasps, hornets ... and spiders ... all freak me out. Drop me in a hot bed of snakes, mice, rats and it won't bother me one bit. But I hear the buzz of a bee and I turn into a 4 year old girl ... LOL.
