My 17 year old son is considering going to Purdue (gasp! from a lifelong IU fan) to study Forestry. He has always wanted a career outdoors and is conservation minded. As the son of a woodworker he also knows the value of the resource we are blessed with.

If you are or know a forester, would you be willing to talk to him about it?

Dr. Jack Seifert is the current Indiana State Forester and former professor at Purdue. I'd go to him first.

I would call the school of Forestry at Purdue and set some meetings up there with them. I am sure he could meet with some students in the program and maybe some faculty to ask questions and get some info.
