Has anyone heard about a new state record whitetail taken in Indiana? I got a text today about the possibility of a new record breaker but no story on it. Just curious if anyone else heard anything about it. Here is the picture I got. One heck of buck no doubt but will it break the current record..

I talked to the successful hunter this past Sunday. The deer is nowhere near a state record. The deer as of now nets 182". Had he not broken off approximately 8" of tine he would have grossed over 200"..This deer was a bowkill and was caught on cam this past summer and even self videoed...CONGRATS to the deserving hunter...

fullrut how and why do you stick your nose into everyday trophy deer killed thats talked about on here? my buddy killed a 187 last week of bow...would you like to know the story the county and the farm it was taken on?

Incredible deer. Congrats! Not getting the hostility in the previous post. I thought this was called "photo gallery". Where pics and stories of Indiana deer are shared. No, I don't need to know farm, but I do like to see counties. I could probably figure it out from the book anyway next year. If I'm wrong and it's just to post pics of big deer, I'll just turn on major league bowhunter or something where they are taking their pick of big deer on 10,0000 acres. No story,no meaning.

Seems every year one of these, "Possible NEW State Record" posts pop up. We have some nice bucks being killed in IN now. Good time to be a deer hunter in the hoosier state!

Don't forget GPS coordinates. Lol just had to throw that in. Seriously Indiana is kicking out some monsters and drawing attention good or bad we will find out!

Agree, been seeing a lot of upper level bucks being harvested. Guess whether it is good or bad is each persons opinion. Now if one would just walk in front of me, that would be great!!!

I agree on IN kicking out big deer. I follow Team Indiana on Facebook and man everyday is several great bucks being posted by everyday IN hunters. Lots of women and young hunters getting their monsters in this state!

haha i'll refrain from further comment. many share the same opinion however, and when i kill a monster and some dude at check in station (wont mention any NAMES) asks me where i killed it? i dont like it..uhh i killed it in the woods? anyways congrats on a great buck. now just think if wed adopt IL OH IA deer regs..we'd really be doing good HA. hows that for ruffling some feathers

Its pretty common for fellow hunters to ask where someone might have killed a nice buck. That doesn't neccessarily mean they are trying to get on your property or get in your business IMO. And that doesn't mean you have to tell them but there is no need to be rude about it just a simple "don't really wanna say" would be ok. If the person was a respected hunter they should understand your response.
But if you kill a monster buck be prepared for the attention its gonna happen from all angles!

Look them right in the eye and say,

"Hancock County, it's just loaded with deer"

When I'm fortunate enough and it does draw attention. Have had people take pictures some ask Some don't. My answer is I'm respecting the land owners wishes of not speaking of it. Don't think the county really matters. Same goes for my bass I weigh in hey where did ya catch those. What were ya using. Politely say I'd rather not expose that thanks for ur interest

I like that 76! I used to work there and that really made me laugh! Just for sure don't say the actual county! I would use Jennings!!! LOL!!! That would catch a few on here I think! HA HA
