This is old news...

Right, I thought some of my friends on here who turkey hunt there might benefit from seeing it.

It is a real shame what has happened to this property since 2005.

Is the turkey hunting decent at Minnehaha? I was fishing for trout last year and heard a turkey gobbling his head off, but wasn't sure if it was on the FWA property or not.

Similar to Goose Pond FWA and G/S Forest which you are familiar with.

There are turkeys to be had there, but you are going to have to earn one.

I just found out the following areas are no longer part of the property

Area B, H, F, E. Shooting range and all the land around it is not part of the property any longer. No more public shooting range.

Essentially all that is left is the pasture areas. Which are no hunting.

I don't see why they don't just close down the whole thing.

Just a matter of time.

I spoke to someone at Goose Pond, the land is being taken back for wetland mitigation work.

There is a 10 year monitoring period when the work is completed. The state could possibly purchase what is left then.

When you have so many good memories at a place, its tough to see it die a slow death the way Minnehaha FWA has. 12,500 acres of prime hunting land to almost nothing now.

How times have changed since 1985. I doubt there was a better public hunting area in Indiana then.

I know we've killed some nice birds off there. And I too hate to see it fade.
