We had a great hunting day in the great state of Missouri for me and my hunting buddies. The wind was a little strong most of the day, but we still were able to see plenty of deer movement and 2 of the 4 of us connected on a couple of real nice Missouri whitetails. I saw 12 deer total for the opening day of which 5 happened to be bucks and when I moved over about 200 yards after 1 pm to get to a better vantage point on a CRP field that most of the larger bucks seem to be chasing does in and out of things really got heated up quick. I had no more climbed my Summit stand and re-hung all my gear and within 10 minutes had a real nice thick and wide 8 pointer sneak up in the tall CRP behind me and give me a close 12 yard shot. Then about 3 hours later my friend from Georgia was able to put a great shot on a fine 12 pointer that came chasing a doe behind him and his buck crashed to the ground about 60 yards in front of me. Now out again this morning to get my other 2 friends on some of the other shooter bucks we saw yesterday and hopefully go 4 for 4 this weekend in NE Missouri. Plus I have a doe tag and I think I can get a big nanny to fill up my freezer for the year!

Update: Day 2 in Missouri!
My buddy Richard Anderson got a real nice 8 pointer this morning. We are now 3 for 4 and hopefully my other buddy Dan can get his tomorrow morning! What a great hunt in Missouri this year.
