I believe this whole thing was a very complicated situation. I would hope that this verdict doesn't lead to even more deaths from what I would call a vigilante mentality. I certainly believe that a person should be able to protect themselves and their family but I also am angst over how the difference is dealt with in regard to those who finds themselves threatened when they might have been the instigator. It will clearly lead to an increased debate over "stand your ground" type of laws across the country.

I'm in absolute disbelief that the verdict was not guilty. I thought for sure shooting an unarmed person was gonna result in prison. Not saying I think Zimmerman was guilty of murder... only that I thought there was no way he'd be found innocent.

This does remind me of why I never "carried" in the past. I always said there's no way I'm going to let someone whoop my butt if I'm packing. Evidently Mr Zimmerman didn't either.

But in regards to the victim and his family:

All you have to be is in Fear for your life or great bodily harm, both people having a gun has zero to do with it.

I thought it was pretty funny how much TM grew up since his death. He went from a good boy to a street fighting, dope smoking thug.

This is the phrase that leads me to a lot of concern. Heck, my guess is that a lot of people in this day and age, especially at night in a lot of areas, are fearful of their life or bodily harm when approached by a stranger. I guess I'm not sure that simply being in fear for one's life or of bodily harm is enough to justify shooting someone. Now, when there is physical altercation it is a lot easeir for me justify then. I see it as a very, very fine line that could be easily finessed by someone wanting to take the law into their own hands.

Ive been watching news coverage of the verdict and boy you sure can tell between the right and left leaning media...

The left is sitting in disbelief that he was found not guilty and wondering how they could have happened and the right is explaining why he was found not guilty...

Even Judge Jeanine Pirro even said that the prosecution failed from the beginning when they charged him with 2nd degree murder and I knew when they charged him with it that he would probably walk... They overcharged him which was stupid...

Also, I don't agree with the optional manslaughter charge after the trial was almost over... That should have been an option at the beginning and not at the end... The prosecution shot (no pun intended) for the fences and failed... They should have not have been awarded a base hit as a consolation prize... I definitely agree with Zimmerman's attorney when he said the prosecution's case was "disgraceful"... It was a joke from the start...

I seen where Al Sharpton and his ilk are asking the Justice Dept. for Civil Rights Violation charges be levy against Zimmerman... For what reason I don't know... Just goes to show that the black community can't and won't accept the jury's verdict (even though two of the jurors were black)...

Personally I think both Zimmerman and Martin are guilty of just being stupid but one paid for their crime with their life and the other will be paying for it for the rest of their life... Zimmerman could have stayed in his van (what he should have done) and Martin could have went on home instead of circling back to jump Zimmerman...

But I guess this is what happens when stupid people make stupid decisions... The rest of us have to deal with the circus's aftermath...

I know that my right to carry saved my life.. twice. And that's all I have to say about it.. serious stuff when you are considering taking the life of of another man..

I agree, I honestly dont care about the case. I wasnt their and I didnt sit through the trial.

I understand your point Shingle, but there seems to be a growing portion of society that could fall into the unreasonable portion.

What blew me away was the fact that they kept saying Zimmerman's wounds weren't life threatening, well they could have become quickly if he had not protected himself. Keep bashing a skull against a sidewalk and damage is being done inside as well as out, your nose gets broke your eyes water up and blood flows out through the nostril and possibly to the back of the throat making it difficult to breathe. Sad situation, yet they demonized Zimmerman from the beginning and portrayed that the young man was just a kid out getting some Skittles and tea. I am glad that the justice system overrode the "media/emotional trial", no one won, though justice was served.
