With the expansion of internet access, the "night before gun season" is not nearly as entertaining at the walmart firearms counter.

You know the type, the guy getting a "deer license" and a box of shells for the dusty shotgun he has not fired since this time last year.

The past couple days have been interesting--as they always are.

Trucks driving through fields, random hunters showing up 2 days before the opener and chainsawing shooting lanes and setting up ladder stands

Back in the day I would go to Wal-Mart the night before gun opener just for the entertainment factor....

True Classic Material right there. Next day after sittin in smoky waffle joint. Sit in stand for hour call BS there's no deer. Start walkin thru crp to get to shaggin wagon and 200 incher jumps up and after third shot connects on fatal drop. Goes to work Monday and brags, all cheers that don't know. Man you are a great hunter. For the rest of us it's only 2 days! Relief is in sight!

I just love how you can drive the dirt roads all bow season and see no one. Drive those same roads Saturday afternoon of opening day and see trucks at the ede of every woods and fields you see.

yep, and the weekend warriors who have not been in the woods since last opening weekend, yet think they own the place come gun season

Give it 2 more weekends, and the wannabes will be back on the couch watching football.

I used to work at a sporting goods store back in my college days and always loved the guys who would come in and buy a gun the day or two before season. They have you put a scope on it, bore sight it and off they would go into the woods. :rolleyes:

My son (19) learned lesson this weekend. He strolled in from Purdue Friday night around 10pm. We are ready to hunt tomm right dad? Absolutely not! Why? Have you shot your gun and made sure its sighted in? No. Then ur buts on couch sat morning. Not happy with me but had to wait til he shot gun Saturday afternoon. Kids
