A heads up to anyone in the northern Hamilton County and Tipton County area... in the past couple of days, there has been a rash of thieves stealing front end weights from tractors parked in fields.

Guy who rents our crop ground had a set taken from an IH 856 in a hayfield Tuesday night, and I had a set of 12 100# weights stolen Wednesday afternoon from my IH 1086. Mine were bolted down with a retaining bracket. Both thefts were northeast of Arcadia and near Omega, within 24 hours.

Hope this doesn't become a trend statewide. Thought I'd warn folks to think twice about leaving equipment out overnight. Both reported to the Hamco sheriff. Will be making calls to local scrappers in the morning, but not holding my breath.

The thieves most likely do dealings with some slim ball scrap dealer that buys stolen metals. Good luck in catching them. h.h.

Good luck catching them Kirk. I just went for the first time to a scrap dealer a couple weeks ago. They took my picture when they paid me but they didn't even know what I had brought in specifically.
