This should be in Saturday's issue of the Indianapolis Star... Hopefully this will get the word out and stop this....

While I support the letter and think guys who shoot deer behind a fence are as lazy as the guys who supported the new deer rules, it is not fair to Dr. Thurston.

In fact, Thurston not only has no deer behind a high fence, he also took down much of the fence that once held deer and is working to return the area to growing indigenous flora.

Don... this statement is true...

However Thurston has remained in support of canned killing pens. I have no respect for that

Don,

Comments like these serve no constructive purpose as all it does is continue to divide hunters in this state.

Perhaps it's time for you to get over it, move on and try to work with ALL hunters on common ground issues.....

Don...........Good Point!!

Please ignore those posts like I've quoted, and from jjas. They are known entities here that are thrilled with trading true management for just another tool to play with in the field and have absolutely ZERO regard for anything difficult in their quest for bucks.........and will claim ZERO responsibility for those that are already suffering from over harvest scenarios they "signed on the dotted line for".....just to get crossbows and keep their 30+ days to buck hunt.

.........but that will all change soon enough. wink

jjas.......you should know better that Don isn't dividing hunters. A few on the NRC Brass did a perfect job of this on their own as they would not let the IDNR follow through with what THEY wanted with Deer Proposal 1.0. That was quoted by IDNR in a Senators Office..........and YOU, our little jjas.....were not there at that meeting.

When you say "with what they wanted", can you give specific names so I can assess whether the "they" are the same one's that I talked to privately last year who certainly may have said something privately to me would have suggested 1.O wasn't what "they" really wanted. Oh, maybe better to start a different thread instead of continued highjacking of this one.

Feel free to PM me.........In no way am I going to offer those names up here for the local "jackels" to chew on. Also keep in mind Delaney what they said to us and the Senator vs what they said to just you to keep you "comfortable" may be two different things......or like you said, could be different people at IDNR. You were not at that meeting either with the 8 men in that Senators Office.

I see that one of the deer "farmers" has posted a comment in the article/letter comment thread disputing the statements in the letter. Have at it boys...

Dew, we'll leave it at that. BUT, the folks that I spoke to called me and I can assure they weren't looking to make me "comfortable". I believe they were moreso trying to understand some of the ridiculous positions being taken on both sides and the why's and why not's of those positions. Once explanations of personal agenda's, ridiculous "pride' and selfish season protection is clearly understood, much of this becomes very, very logically explained.

Don's comment about other hunters was divisive and unnecessary, just like your latest personal attack on me......

I've asked you on several occasions to stop the foolishness or @ least take it to pm's so as to not derail these threads, but I guess that doesn't fit your agenda.....

As I suggested to Don....Perhaps it's time for you to get over it, move on and try to work with ALL hunters on common ground issues instead of continuing to stew over past disagreements.

Now to get this thread back on track.......

I've emailed everyone who is supposed to represent me on the state and federal level in regards to this topic.

I hope others have done the same.

My comment to the deer pimp is now part of the article thread. People are still reading this piece as it has been linked on FB and Twitter, so we need to get some more comments on the indystar piece to counter claims made by the canned hunt operator.

If you've not done so already, email the letter link to your reps and state senators, and post on your FB or twitter account.

I didn't start this thread so some of you guys could hijack it by throwing some sort of tantrums because your feelings got hurt about this or you don't agree with that, blah,blah,blah....

I started this thread so I could (and any other who wished to) publicly thank Joe and the rest of the guys who worked on that letter for the Indianapolis Star....

It is ok to disagree with someones position on deer management... Heck I have disagreed with some of Joe's positions in the past as well as a few others... But this is something that Joe and I agree on and that I wanted him to know that I appreciate his (and the others) efforts on getting the word out about this....

So guys please take your hurt feelings and ego's to private messaging please.... Thanks!
