What is this Big Oaks thing. I've never heard of the place until you guys started talking about it. Im assuming its a public place and must be decent since its brought up a lot. Just curious

Big Oaks is a WMA that used to called Jefferson Proving Grounds. This is a draw hunt. It is in southern Indiana. I think it is 50,000 acres but a lot of it is restricted.

Hard place to hunt, but I like it.

The northern part of the property is very rugged in areas... The south not so much but it is very thick... Big Oaks is 50,000 acres with 25,000 of it accessible to the public... To put it in perspective... H Road is the main east/west road and it is 11 miles across (and that is inside a fence) the first time my buddy and I went there we drove around and put on 60 miles on his truck

Hunting at BO is an experience like no other in the state of Indiana... Everyone should at least hunt it once in their life for truly awesome time... Even if you don't harvest anything, it is a great time with a lot of beauty to behold...

Bean is right... It is by draw hunt only but they do conduct no-show draws and most of the time they will let you in to hunt if they have slots available... You must have a partner and usually you get a whole area to yourselves but a few can take more depending on type of hunt it is...

I urge everyone to go check it out at least once in their life for a different experience hunting in Indiana...

I just got back from Big Oaks last night after getting drawn and hunting it with a partner yesterday. That place is huge! although we didn't kill any deer I did see a few and also saw some big bucks on the drive in and out. It took us 40 minutes to drive to area 7 from check in. I would do it again in a flash and plan on putting in next year for it.
