Thanks HH. I found that site, and looked at the map. Looks like Brood X is the most prevalent in Indiana, and are due 2017.

Yaz here is a post I posted on another site. You can contact this guy, they call him Mr Cicada.
I sent an e-mail today to the Cicada guru, Professor of Biology at Mount St. Joseph Univ. in Cinn. Oh Dr. Gene Kritsky for his input on the lack of cicada's. He assured me that we would be hearing them within the next week or so. He also said that we would see a heavy amount of what he called the periodic cicada in 2017 and even a heavier influx in 2021.

I have not seen or heard any of the periodic cicadas HH. They have a different sound than our annual's. Even though its been a long time since I've heard them, I will know the song.

The summer/fall they were here last, my Father and I caught more fish than we could in 5 years combined! We would float Laughery creek, Flatrock rivers, and wade sand creek. White water S.P. was great also. Every cast was almost guaranteed fish. You never knew what you were going to catch. A live cicada buzzing on top caught anything around, including carp, cats, crappie, and bass. We could fill a cricket cage with live cicadas in about 5 minutes. Bet the fish got sore necks from looking up that summer!!!!! laugh I remember Dad commenting that he hoped he was still around to see another 17 yr hatch. Unless Mom kills him before then, looks like he will be around for us to do it again!!!! laugh

Shake a bush and pick em up! laugh There are literally thousands upon thousands of them! They are easiest to get early in the morning while it is still damp and cool. They won't fly.

Got several pictures of the female and male in the barn. We ended having to put a cow and calf in there for a week to treat them. She must have moved the pups out. I seen her sunning on a bulldoze pile on the back of the place a couple weeks later…..
