I think I asked this a couple years ago but I'm trying again. Anyone know of any public spots that have clear shallow water flats that the carp cruise? Looking to fly fish for these things but I'm just not sure where to find such a place here in Indiana.

There are lots of spots on the Wabash like this with the right water levels.

I see, you want to try fresh water bone fishing........not many lakes or areas up here with big flats and clear water. Most of the river systems up here are muddy with silt. Lot of the quarries have crystal clear water which is good for sight fishing but have deep banks and no flats. Most carp Ive ever found in a spot is below a dam just out of the current. Good luck in your search. h.h.

Many of the lakes in Greene Sullivan area are real clear and have quite a few carp in them. One in particular is West Lake in the West Dugger unit.

Thanks much. The wife and I will do a road trip to scout these areas. This is a growing sport and there is a place out in Lake Michigan that has flats like the Keys in Florida but I can't quite find the time to get there. Finding sight fishable waters is really tough.

Bean, the north end of Whitewater would have been really good carp shooting a week ago.

What fly type are you using?

Consistent luck is nothing more than hard work and preparation.
