Just wanted to share. Six of us from NW Indiana went together to ice fish Sturgeon Bay. First day we went for walleye at day break out on the ice, then white fish in a shack for most of the day, then walleye again at sundown. The next, due to low temps and no bites, we skipped walleye and just fished for white fish. White fish look like ugly suckers/carp, but they are fun to reel in and supposedly taste great. Daily limit is ten per person, but we only caught about 30 total. Other than not catching a lot of fish and a total jerk off of a guide, the trip was a lot fun!

Looks like a great time. I've been getting pictures from a guy thats been ice fishing Lake Michigan near Ludington and he's been catching limits of big perch and some whites almost every day for two to three weeks now. Interesting comment you made about using a guide. Never thought about it for ice fishing.

My friend that arranged the trip is going to palm slap his forhead when I tell him what you said about up by Ludington. We have a former co-worker friend who has a place up there and we could have went up there and fished the weekend and only cost us the gas money! Yeah, we used a guide service really just to rent the large shack and for transport on and off the ice. Plus, they are supposedly in the know about where the fish are. Ours wasn't quite on the mark, which is forgivable because he can't control the fish bite, but he didn't have the best "people skills."

TS, Steve sent another pic this evening from Ludington with a limit of very nice perch. They continue to hammer them literally every day.

TS. Apparently still about 15 inches of ice of Pere Marquette lake and they are still pounding the perch. Got a new report today from guys literally sitting on the ice. Not too late for a weekend trip up there! The steelhead are also cranking up in the lower PM on streamers and hot n tots.
