Saw a monster yesterday at 10:45am. In true big buck fashion he knew I was there. He got to 40 and I had no shot then he wheeled, snorted, and took off. The wind was good for me? I checked it right after he took off? I guess I'm lucky to just lay eyes on an animal like that he was a no doubter plus some. Good news is they are starting to get the itch.

I've found that if you stare at them they get nervous real quick, not a wind thing it is a sixth sense.

Remember that most predators in North America have forward looking, close set eyes. instinctively most prey animals get very nervous when stared at. If, as humans, we had eyes set on the sides of our head (like elk, horses, cows, deer, etc) then we would be looked at as no harm. However, a humans forward looking, close set eyes resemble those of a coyote, wolf, bear or bobcat hence the instinct to be afraid, even if a deer has never seen a human. Follow JB's advice, look away or down but not at a deer you want to shoot until you are ready to pull the trigger.

I never make eye contact with any deer I intend to shoot. If it has antlers, and this one had a whole bunck of them, I try to not stare at the hardware. THis deer was 40 yards looking the other way. We got busted in there again with the wind in our favor so there must be some weird thermals in there? Its a funnel between two lakes and it is the only travel route between two very large tracks of timber. I know the deer feel vulnerable when they are in there so they are already on pins and needles. Scent blocker and all the scent away we can muster and its still not enough. But its an awesome spot!!!
