Hey guys. New to the North West Indiana area. Looking for some place to hunt gun season up this way. Public or Private, or a hunting buddy.

Check out Willow Slough F&W area in Newton county....10,000 acres including some unique Nature Conservancy land ....there is also Lasalle F&W area ....both are off HWY 41.....There is also Kingsbury F&W area in Laporte county and Jasper/Pulaski F&W area south of the Kankakee river and lastly Kankakee F&W area.....Kingsbury and J/P have had drastic drops in their deer numbers and their harvest have dropped dramatically due to the over kill of antlerless deer.....the "Slough" always produces some monster bucks, if you dont mind a tad longer drive

Like Jeff mentioned, There lots of good public options.

Your best bet would be to hunt during the middle of the week there during bow season later this month and into November right before gun opens up.

I'm in Porter County. Hunted Jasper-Pulaski and Kingsbury. IMO, between those two public areas, I've seen bigger deer (on average) at JP but higher numbers at Kingsbury. Used to hunt pheasants at Willow Slough but never hunted deer there. that said, I used to see some massive rubs on some big trees every year down there.

Good luck.

Hunt safe. Shoot straight.

From my house, the Slough is over 70 miles(one way), Ive pretty much quit hunting it 'cause of the drive....shot some nice Deer at J/P when it was at it's peak back in the '90's ..... aint been the same since .... I may hit JP in late season and backpack in my Lone Wolf Alph just for something different...its been 'prolly 10 years since I deer hunted there....I squirrel hunt it every year and have some funnels I'd like to sit....some of my old locations .....
