Hunted briefly this morning up north and it was pretty calm with little movement. Too nice out for me today. Just never have liked hunting in the sun, even though I do at times.

I've moved a few hundred yards south. Now set for first evening hunt of season. Wind has picked up a bit and squirrels r barking at something.
Squirrel came in behind me. Always good to increase the heart rate.

the fog is rolling in heavy now. figured deer would be up moving with this system coming through. nothing yet but usually about 630 is when thing pick up around here. last night after my post right at 645 had a 2 1/2-3 1/2 decent 8 walk with in 13 yds and little doe. Been seeing a lot of action out of the little bucks with in the last week. Still catching the big mature bucks on camera but only at night. Still think were a few weeks out before I start to see them move during the day.

Saw a giant yesterday evening..I'm talking 170+..with a doe in cut corn field. Yesterday morning i had a 1.5 year old breed a doe 20 yards away and an hour later a 140 class 10pt came in down wind and busted me. Had his nose to the ground cruising. IT IS ON NOW. big boys are done being patient in my opinion..they are ready to "get it in"

Man, Right now the way my luck is going I could go to a zoo and not see a deer. I really hate to be a whiney tit-bag but I have been out 20 times this year averaging 3 hrs a hunt and I have only seen a total of 8 deer. Movement the last 6 days has been totally non-existant. I have vacation for a whole month now and can't seem to get on any deer. I have scouted different areas and it looks pretty sad. Just a few small rubs and scrapes. I pulled my cam cards and all the movement is at night time and the bucks are still hanging out together. Not a one picture of a doe. I hope things pick up.

Over and out,
Whiney tit-bag smile

Parkerbow,
Dude, it's gotta be fun! If it ain't fun, take a break. Go catch some crappies or something... then you'll appreciate the time in the woods. It can become a grind if you get caught up in keeping up with everybody on here.

I've been there. Now, I realize that I have too many hobbies to spend all my time and money on deer hunting, trail cams, hanging stands... It's great for many people but it ain't for all of us. Now I enjoy just being in nature and seeing deer. If it's God's will, I'll kill a monster. If not I'll enjoy the time away from work.

Things are looking good in Parke county. Just had 7 deer in hay field. Then a 150's 10 chased them off in to woods.
grunted in two 1 1/2 yr olds.

HS , I am the same way. After 25 years of bow hunting and pushing the big 50, I could careless if I get a buck or not. In today's environment, it is more work after the kill than before the kill. My family dosnt like deer meet and I do not have the time to do it my self. Heck, most of the time I just take my camera out with me instead of my bow. This year is especially gratifying just to be able to walk and sit out in the woods. I am 5 weeks post op from major back surgery. As we age, you gain a whole new perspective on life. As the sun comes up every day is a good day.

I'm not bashing you I'm trying to encourage you Dude!
I'm sorry I misunderstood your trying to be funny. I've just seen what seems like hundreds of posts about how you never see a deer. That sounds depressing. I was only trying to encourage you and remind you that if you are getting the opportunity to go hunting... that it could be worse.
I went from hunting 4000 acres with a couple guys and seeing 10-20 deer per sit to losing that land and hunting public. Talk about a shock!

It'll never be the same. But in a way, I think I appreciate the time in the woods more now. There's no pressure to make good on all the time and effort I put in to killing a buck the guys at work or on here would think was impressive. It CAN become a job if you let it.
