Its been a minute since I have been logged on and talking to you fellas. The family and I were very fortunate after a lot of searching to purchase a small farm in Portland, Tn. this past Sept. With work, court and moving my bowhunting was pretty much non existent. During the time on the new place noticed a lot of coyote traffic on my trail cameras. Well I was able to harvest a 1.5 year half old buck on veterans day morning. After processing I took the bones and skin back to the hayfield, which is 177 yds from the back door and was able to kill the oldest coyote I have ever laid eyes on. Its teeth(all 4 canines) were wore down to the roots,

With the up coming delivery of chickens in January I wanted to do some predator control. A good buddy here at ole Hoosierhunting set me on the right path and I had 3 traps in the ground on the 26th,
Wyatt, my oldest boy, goes with me to check them. First catch was a huge grinner/egg stealer.

Then this morning 12/2/2014
Finally got it done

Going to keep running them till the season end Feb 28. Hooked for sure have 12 more traps that will be here this week lol, I am enjoying the challenge and learning a new skill.

Dave, the job is ever changing lol, not a day that is the same. Can't believe its only been 3 years haha, seems a lot longer.
Enjoyed where we lived at in Hendersonville but where we have moved to now really feels like home, I enjoy the 35 minute drive from Nashville to Portland/Mitchellville. We bought a house that used to be a tobacco barn from 1948-1998, plenty of room for the growing family (expecting our first daughter in April), and 2 other barns for livestock and stuff haha.
The hunting is plentiful, working with the adjoining farmer that lives in Kentucky (3 miles away) to hunt some of his land in Simpson County, Kentucky and continue my hunting in Macon, and Trousdale County Tenn.

Yes, its kinda like setting personal goals lol and when one is achieved, moving towards another. I have about 2 more weeks of really good deer hunting left but once holidays hit I am going to start setting for bobcats and fox on my two hunting farms, gotta plan accordingly since they are 45mins away and have to check them every 36hrs.

Your living in a nice area and sure are set up for some good outdoors experiences.

Hoosier, giving up a day in a tree stand is a small price to pay for the fury of even a mid size striper.

Yeah agree. I LOVE to fish but can't seem to do it during the Fall. I know I know there is some great fishing then....

Nice catches and I am glad your move is working out for you.
