Nice....is that possibly the silvery colored one you had on the trail cam?

I'll let you know how the lion hunt goes. Let's hope it ends with the thud of a big Tom landing back first in a snowbank wink

Stick, she is the nicest colored, best furred coyote of the year. Hope they grade her well. Might be a $50 + hide. Wish all of them were like that one! That is not the one from the trail cam pictures. That one was a male. Unfortunately, I believe he was one that chewed out on me……That snare was very close to where I had the pictures.

I wish you well on the cat hunt!!!!

Certainly this thread is coming to a close soon. But it's been great again this year. Nice catch Yaz, safe travels Stick.

Thanks Dave. Be nice to figure out how many coyotes HH trappers got this year. Has to be close to 75 or more!

Yaz, Exactly what I was wondering! How many total coyotes caught by HH trappers this season. I took 3 in my rookie season. I was only trapping my 12 acre field! Everyone log in with a total so we can add them up!

Well, I got SCHOOLED this last night! Had what looked like 4 come through the farm, and hit every set I had. They destroyed all my hay sets, that the deer have already tripped my traps on. They danced all over two sets here that were frozen to the ground, the picture is a trap with the pan cover pulled completely off the pan!…..Went through a snare and knocked it over…….. :roll eyes:
What to do, what to do?????????? laugh

Pulled down the last of my snares this morning, and that'll probably wrap it up for the year.

Did manage to get this one final male caught though.

Stick, I got 10 last year. THOUGHT I had em under control….I figured 10 more this year would about do it. Just goes to show just how many are out there!!! It has got to help the fawn, turkey, and game populations. I know it has in our area.

Caught this one last night but not a yote, plus it wasnt what I was targeting. If he had been alive I would have release him. Ive not been very aggressive this year at snaring. Ive not moved any or set any new ones and only have 5 out. h.h.

What's not realized when you have good habitats The Coyotes you dont catch will just have larger litters to fill the void of avalible habitate that's why you never seem to make a dent in them the better the mousing the more the coyote

I think Ma Nature ended it for me today. Another 8" made it almost impossible….almost, to get back and check today. I closed up all my snares, and tripped a trap at our North place today. I will wait till the thaw to pull them up. Pulling those earth anchors are hard enough, but bringing them through the 4" of frozen dirt wouldn't work. I've got a 1/2 dozen traps buried and 8 snares left covered in snow……that I just remade, and dug out yesterday. Looks like a big thaw by this coming weekend. I doubt I get one on a set this week. I'll pull before it gets too sloppy to get back there…..

Good going boys. I did not trap very hard this year due to changing shifts at work in October. I did manage to catch 12 yotes on my 33 acres. I too cannot believe how many yotes are out there.

Took some fur down to the Bartholomew County fairground to see how the sale would go. There were four buyers. After the first two or three lots went through, it was clear that we were going to roll the dice and ship to NAFA again. The highest coon were $4.00 range. Rats sold good for around 6.00. Coyotes were all over from $2.00 to $14.50. After the lots were graded, the buyers were only interested in the best of the best. We never even brought our fur in the building. Did chat with Charlie at HTS, and a few folks I haven't seen for years.

I got the beaver traps back out now...hoping for a couple in the morning. Lots of fresh sign and the warm up should have them on the move.

Getting out in the 45 degree weather sure feels good!!!

Yaz I didn't think you were going or I would have introduced myself. I'm in the last pic in the Brown Carhart. As for the prices I was disappointed in them and I didn't even take a fur to the sale. It's not looking good for next year that's for sure.

Well heck Billy. Never gave it a thought. It was a last minute thing. Dad called me this morning and said he was going down to see how it went. We took some fur just in case it was going decent. I understand that these buyers are very cautious now, and not wanting to take a hit like some did last year. If I would have sold, it would have been a "all or nothing deal". I don't like the way they graded. They basically would and only buy the good stuff for less than what I thought it was worth, and would low ball on the not so good stuff, hoping a guy would just sell it so they wouldn't have to fool with it. Oh well…..its not why I trap anyway. Not going to slow me down any….

Yes I agree with you. I felt there was a lot of jokes and fun being made of certain people's stuff and I didn't care for that. The range on coyotes blew my mind. How you have that big on a window in price is beyond me.
