Results from the January sale. If remember right, dried, frozen, green, in the round are all sold at this sale. I ASSUME the pricing reflects that. You can read more about it in Thegadabout, online.

I would be happy with those averages.

I have a question-for the DNR really, why do we still have a state wide Grey Fox season? Perhaps there are counties with a sustained, trapable population of them, but in most areas they are extinct or at best endangered. The above reflects that also.

I understand your point! I have not seen a gray in 20 years. Between the lack of habitat (clean or no fence rows), and the coyotes, they are gone from farm country. I know southern and eastern Indiana still has a decent population. I don't know what good closing the season on them would do. They will not repopulate unless they have the habitat.

Very few grays up here. I saw one couple years ago and before that it was 10 years or more. h.h.

I have trapped since 93'

never seen or caught a gray fox in central or west central Indiana. I have run trail cams for years, and never got one on cam either...

They were prevelant around here when I was a kid in the late 70's early 80's, as were quail and rabbits were thick too. It's just amazing to think the influence the coyote has made. I suppose they will never come back, barring some strange thing that irridicates the coyotes. I just think its strange to have a state wide season on such a scarce animal-no trapper I know around here has caught one in over 20 years either, yet most I know have caught a bobcat in the last few years, but they ARE protected!

When I lived on the southside of indianapolis, up til 2004, there was a number of greys in the area. I used to mouse squeak some in when is set up in the backyard. I've even got a hide still that is salted hanging in the garage. In the fall they would sometimes come into the backyard and chew on fallen apples.
