Would anyone be interested in a mid December pheasant hunting trip ? I no longer have dogs but have still been successfull. It is legal to hunt without dogs. If someone with a bird dog would be interested that would even be better. South Dakota has a million acres of walk in hunting and it is spread over the state. I have always hunted what is called the golden triangle and with or without a dog been successfull. Next year I am going to Wyoming for antelope hunting. Again I am going to hunt state reserved land and you are the only hunter on that section. The cost for a license is $300 with either a buck or doe permit. I noticed 1000's of antelope while driving through the northeast part of the state and called the DNR to ask about hunting opportunities. Was shocked to hear they had so many permits left over this year and asked me why not come up this year. Just so you know I am a working man just like most hunters. I am able to go on hunting trips mostly from pocket change saved for a year and adding just a little more to make it work. Anyone interested in doing any hunting please let me know.

You will like Wyoming. Eastern Wyoming is a great place to hunt, tons of public land and easy to draw tags for both deer and antelope, have been there many times.
Used to go out there with a group every year, do it yourself camping, and could do it for about $700 per man door to door. Always killed deer too.

Steiny,

$700 Door to door? and killed deer?

Any advice? That sounds quite appealing to me.

PM me if you'd like

@ beaglehandler: How does hunting without dogs work out exactly...I have been wanting to try but have never committed to it.

@ HS Strut:DIY for $700 is light, but in the ball park depending on speed goat or mulie tags...Been hunting in the eastern part of WYO for the last few years now. And while the eastern part has more Public land then we Hoosiers are used to, the farther west you go the more it opens up.

I have been walking edges and fence rows. Being late season is the challenge. Birds are spooked easier and many will run away and then fly off. Last year I got 13 birds in 5 days. Missed my limit by 2. Very enjoyable, usually don't see another hunter that late in the season.
