I have had a LTL for years so I am admittedly disconnected from all of the new licenses and fees our DNR has created.

I added it up quickly for a hunter who wishes to hunt small game, turkey spring and fall, and deer with a crossbow, urban zone, muzzleloader, and firearms season and also tries to take an antlerless deer for the freezer. I hunt these seasons each year.

I spend over a thousand to go shoot pigs in Texas.. I could just go load the freezer down with bacon for that money. Figure in gear camo on and on and on.. what's the point/? Nobody hunts to survive anymore.

LT here as well but I pay $7 for a youth license.

I do have a question for some of the figures above: with the new bundle (1 buck and 2 does) for $65.00 to be used anywhere except urban areas, wouldn't that make it cheaper on all of the above listed totals? I know a military hunt would be more if you chose to purchase it.

If I had to buy my license, I still would for the enjoyment and time spent outdoors. Heck, some guys spend a year worth of license on a night of beer, poker, or golf. With the hours used vs dollars spent - still not a bad deal.

Yeah, I hear ya. Just sticker shock on my part I suppose. The bundles seems to offer a big savings for the serious hunter (like most on here)

A quick look at the hunting section of Cabelas tells me there is no limit to what gadgets or gimmicks ($30 treestand umbrella or the $400 ozone generators) hunters will buy.

The new seasons are great, just seems to be a money machine for our DNR.

With the new bundle you don't need to buy all those separate licenses. I buy the bundle, my turkey tags, regular hunting license, and game bird habitat stamp. I don't really pay attention to the totals, because I do it for the time spent outdoors with family and friends. I'm sure if I totaled up my yearly expenses with gas and all it would be a pretty hefty price tag, but well worth it in my mind. I know some day I won't be able to do it or I won't be here to do it, so I might as well enjoy it to the fullest while I can. Heck, this year my regular hunting license has made my year, because my son has been both crow and squirrel hunting with me and he absolutely loved it and that's what it's all about. Gotta pay to play.

I have the lifetime license here also. I paid $525 many seasons ago. That was some of the best money I have ever spent!

Now if we want to talk trips, fuel, new toys, etc......

Mine was a graduation gift also. $525 was what they cost in 2001, the next year they jumped to about $950 then disappeared.

I am still SO thankful!

Try around 1150 bucks... That is what I paid before they did away with them.... Had to hunt and fish for five and a half years to pay for itself....

Indiana Lifetime License here as well, but I pay a plenty for my out of state license's and hunts for deer and turkey each year. But for the time in the wild and with my family and friends it's just priceless to me personally and a very small price to pay in the grand scheme of things. It's hard to put a price tag on that. I guess just like with anything that we love to do though and have a passion for we all have to sacrifice and pay a cost for those things in life we want and love so much.
