Deer hunting is an ever-changing world. It might not seem that way on the surface, but it is. Deer populations rise, fall and run stagnant. Sometimes big bucks are killed. Other years they aren’t. Some seasons produce big deer in areas Booners haven’t been seen for years. Just take the recent Tucker buck from Tennessee as an example. The beauty in Boone & Crockett’s Trophy Records search function? We can see where the big bucks are coming from right now, not just the deer that were killed a half-century ago.

We’ve compiled the data from the last five years based on number of entries per square mile to eliminate the advantage of being a larger state. We’ve done this to show where the biggest bucks are coming from right now and to shed a little light on what the future of Boone & Crockett bucks looks like in America.

Whether you’re looking to buy land, lease ground, or just trying to determine where the best place is for a Booner this fall, we’ve got the information you need right here. No bull. Just the facts.

That 307" Tucker buck was a strange one.....had only a 14" spread and 22" main beams. Could've been a younger buck with just some weird genetics. Interesting points in the article though.

Funny, the description with Indiana says, "It doesn’t make the all-time top 10 list, but..." and right next to that is the Top 10 list with Indiana at number 10! Ha ha.

Hopefully I can hunt in Kentucky and Iowa in the next 5 years. Minnesota, Illinois and Indiana staples.. I happen to believe most of those big ones are in Southern Indiana. Jasper/Pulaski gets some biguns as well.

Deer Hunting since 1999 (Virginia, Indiana, Illinois, Minnesota, Montana Antelope)

Marketing Guy in Chicago but grew up in Indiana/ Ball State.. blah blah blah.

The actual harvest was 119 at JP which is very close to the 10 year average. Only around 80 deer were turned in on permit cards but after seeing the numbers from the online check in system, the additional deer were discovered.

It's frustrating when people don't follow the rules. Your are required to sign-in and return your permit card each day when you hunt Fish & Wildlife Areas....but obviously, that isn't happening.

I'm trying Jeff! It's very difficult to make proper deer management decisions if we don't have accurate data and we need it in a timely manner rather than waiting until after the season to get it.

It has been a very time consuming process but I've compiled a list of names and addresses from the roughly 40 people that broke the rules last season. They will be getting a letter from me this time but I have discussed this issue with our local officer and future violations won't be quite as pleasant.
