Fellow Hoosier Hunters, just a quick question for you.
What is your initial opinion of Tinks? Not just scents in general, but Tinks and its line of products.

Thank you for answering.

I have never had any success using any type of "doe" scent, but, I won't say it will not work for others, as Bow pointed out, it has obviously worked well for him as pictures of his recent successes have shown...

IMO, it's a crap shoot you might just have to try for yourself and see how it works... Good luck!

Personally, I haven't had much luck with anything Tinks or other brands. I have used them from time to time thinking this may be the "moment".

The best thing I have used that works without a doubt is Smokey's Preorbital Gland Lure. This stuff is awesome and a bottle lasts me 2 seasons. I have 100's of pics of does and bucks using this lure.

Good luck finding out the info you're searching for.

It says "ALL NATURAL". Do you work for Tinks Brew??
The secret indgredient you argue about could be all natural.
That doesn't make it man made!

Back 10-15 years ago on archerytalk the guy who invented tinks was on there a lot and he wanted to buy back any tinks in glass bottles. He would trade you 2 or 3 new ones for one old bottle. He said the company he sold out to changed the formula and the new stuff wasnt the same as the old tinks.

The only tinks I found that worked was the synthetic fox urine. They only made it a couple years but this stuff worked as a cover agent. I had an eight point buck and old doe stand 20-30 yards down wind of me, lifting their heads and smelling but not detecting danger. Redfox tracked my buddy to his stand after he put it on his boots.

Most of the cheap attracting lures are mixed with cow urine to increase yield, at least that is what ive read on the net....h.h.

Just use your own p. Works.
And you KNOW where it came from wink

Every year I make mock scrapes, start em with my p....and the deer take over from there. I also p in every scrape I find.

Hundreds of pics over the years shows it fires them up! Does, young bucks, old bucks....even rabbits squirrels and coyotes add their two drips smile

I have done that in past whenever I ran into a scrape... I use to frequent Deer & Deer Hunting forum and other hunters would state they do the same thing...

One guy from Illinois who has hunted forever said the problem with Tinks and other Doe lures is that color of the lure was brown (which it is) and there is no such thing as brown urine... He stated that urine only turns brown when it is breaking down and decaying which is what Doe lures are doing... So they might have been fresh when they were bottled, but, buy the time they get on the shelves well they are decayed or decaying...

The use dark bottles to keep out light to slow the decaying process...

When it comes to using other urine as cover scents he said that was the biggest farce he had ever heard because as he so eloquently put it, "Urine is urine" regardless of where it came from... Only human urine would have a different smell since we drink other liquids besides water...

After reading that, I stopped using all urine lures and only peed in scrapes and my hunting improved greatly because of that because whenever I used it, I would spook the deer more than lure them in...

I can remember Tink Nathan when he did the "Ask Tink " for Bowhunter Magazine back in the early and mid 1970'S. People would write in and ask question about bowhunting and he would answer them in the magazine. Never had much luck with the bottle of lure I bought about 10 years ago and have bought any since.

Another popular scent Evercalm works. Read the many online reviews of it. They discovered it by accident after noticing how many more deer sightings they had when wearing their clothes and boots they had been working in the deer barns.

Evercalm is just droppings, urine, and bedding from a deer farm in Michigan put in an easy to use deodorant type dispenser. Very high cost for what you are getting but it works as an attractant and calming deer in range with a familiar scent.

I used to hunt dairy farms and would walk though the barn on the way into the woods. This works too. I hunt a place now with draft horses and go through the barn wearing my hunting clothes and lacrosse burlys on the way to the treestand. This works as well!

I read a story years ago about a hunter that had access to Holstein Cows. He would pay a farmer for gallons of holstein cow urine from "in-heat" cows. He would pay $50 for gallons of this stuff and then throw buckets of it around his tree stand the night before he hunted.

Reported excellent results.

This is how I began my technique of hot water and Tinks 69 + Code Blue that I have posted on here in the past.

Read an article years ago-I think on Bowsite where someone figured up how many captive deer Tink would need to produce all of the "natural"doe in heat he sold-the numbers were staggering and impractical, although it may explain where all of Indiana's deer have gone.

JimH - That's funny!

I think I read that article as well, or read that somewhere. I think they mentioned that they were artificially creating does in estrus by altering the amount of sunlight available - and doing that 3-4 times per year.

I have also read the ridiculousness of the impact of an ounce of urine. Someone once calculated how much deer urinate in the woods all year. 10 deer in a square mile would urinate something like a total of 500 gallons of urine. LOL.

TBH - I'm embarrassed that I know that. LOL
