Got a new property to hunt in turkey season 2016. Was told that myself, my son and one other guy hunted it. No lease or written permission necessary.
As of yesterday, I pulled my two stands, blind and cameras. Someone was even in a stand of mine yesterday morning as mud was all over the stand and tracks in field to and from.
I left because counting myself, over 10 people have permission on this farm with two new guys getting it just this last week. How many is too many? All being separate hunting parties.
Beautiful property that with some strategic planning would produce a good buck harvest every year. Pretty upset to say the least but should have seen it coming.
Looking for new property sucks but sharing with 8 others isn't any fun either.

been there, done that!

Stinks but it is probably best to move on at least during the weekends in the firearms seasons.

Could you just hunt it during early bow season or late season when the "firearms only" guys are done for the year?

Yeah, it stinks when a good thing goes bad. I lost a property once because of a family feud (not my family). Not that anyone cared about the hunting but it was all about who would get the property 'willed' to them!
Anyhow, some times a good thing is too good to be true, maybe that's why it was free??
Either way, it stinks!! Sorry to hear

Hunt safe. Shoot straight.

I lost a great property 'cause the landowner died and it went to his poor excuse of a son...I had it for 18 years to myself, and then the son started letting every one of his buddies onto it... after two years of stupid crap, that was it ..

I had a land owner I used to hunt on die over last winter. Wife said NO hunting this year. #1 spot I hunted for 6 yrs. gone a week before bow season this year.

Another one a few yrs ago. Putnam county 600 acres or so. Landowners Son found out we got permission to bow hunt it. Wanted it all to himself for the 2 weekends of gun season.. Permission gone overnight....

Ouch. That stings.

I worry about the future direction of hunting, it gets harder every year to find land to hunt on. More is leased, or sold and closed to hunting every year

We had our worst experiences on public land this year compared to any previous year too. Possessive hunters who thought we were hunting "their spot" and other issues with other "hunters"

Thus it goes for public hunting.... I put up with the BS constantly....had "brite eyes" pulled down, dumps taken at the base of the tree I hunted in, tree's used just 10 yds from the one I wanted to go up into (hey, it is State land..lol..)... this past Sat. I was walking in to a location to hunt the afternoon after hunting another location in the AM, saw 3 blaze hats moving thru the woods right where I was going, watched 'em for a bit and then it hit me what they were doing.... following a blood trail... I walked over to 'em and found out one hit a buck early in the AM and were doing the follow up, they had went far from the hit location already, over 300 yards, didnt look good, very little blood one said...but who knows..... they were going right in to the thick bedding area where the deer would come from in the PM... I wished 'em good luck and I turned around and went home...... I'll try again this Fri and Sat... thus is hunting State Lands... Private dosnt sound much better now a days either...
