Full moon and warm temps kept the deer from moving much up north here. I hunted in the same stand Ive killed 2 nice bucks on opening day in the last couple years and never saw a racked buck today. I saw a couple buttons and 5 does and no antlered buck. Is the rut in lock down already or is it not in yet? Not many shots were fired today either. Ideas? h.h.

I spent the morning at JP....didnt even bother with the PM...didnt see squat, about 30 degrees at sunrise with frost... I'm still with the bow trying for a Doe.. and I sat in a great looking funnel.... it mayhave looked great, but nothing came thru and the trails looked dead... I heard very few shots other than the waterfowl guys back in the marsh .... talked to a guy who hunted another area and he said where he was there was only one shot, nothing else close.... he also said the place looked dead with very little deer sign, he said its been like that all bow season to... a few does here and there, but wasnt even seeing any dinks up to now..... I'm not even bothering with tomorrow....Ive got leaves to rake ... I'll wait till the pressure dies down and it gets and stays cold....

Bunches of fawns by themselves and two small bucks feedin in the open this evenin. Makes me think lockdown. Buddy killed his first buck and it's a good one on public ground

Slow yesterday around here. I didn't hear much shooting at all. No relatives called for drag help or to use garage either.....must be the full moon. Bro in law took a kid and saw 10 deer, I think all does. Bucks are on the hot does tending/breeding from what I can tell.
Buddy from KY said slow buck action there too and less Shooting than usual for opening day.

Martin county, every deer I've seen had been by itself. Bucks and does alike. No chasing. Seems like the rut is over.

Born to hunt. Forced to work.

I didn't hunt but sat on my back deck as the sun came up. I drank coffee until about 9:00 and NEVER heard a shot. A buddy who hunts across the road from my other ground said the only shot he heard all morning was at about 8:30. Similar reports from other friends.

Full moon with cloudless skies. They fed all night I am sure. Cold but a bright sun in the morning. Why move when they can lay in the warming sun on a full belly. Not remotely good deer hunting conditions generally speaking.

I saw 2 deer opening morning and killed the second one (first didn't offer a shot). Solid non-typical 8 point, stud body.

My brother saw a couple in the morning and killed one to fill an antlerless tag.

This morning I got skunked and he saw 2 out of range.

Back at it in the morning.

Hunted Fulton County this weekend and saw quite a bit of deer moving Saturday my buddy took a 2x4 Buck (2 side had the antler going up and down) and Doe...

Sunday, saw one small Buck cruising around and watched him for awhile and at 8:30 had a Doe come from behind me while I was in a cornfield I took a shot hat her and missed her and then noticed the big Buck chasing her and missed him with the first shot and nailed him with the second shot... Was missing half his rack but probably field dressed around 200 pounds... He was a a beast as he looked bigger dead than alive...

Just not in the right spot I guess... I did not hear many shots this weekend but saw plenty of deer movement with Bucks chasing Does...

I spent the entire weekend at JP... No one that hunted JP in my group (5 guys) bagged a buck. These guys hunt there every year and know it like the back of their hand. I've hunted it for 4 or 5 years.

Young bucks definitely moving around, does were seen but really it was an odd weekend. Heard almost NO GUNSHOTS on Sunday - except for the waterfowlers.

Sunday morning I saw 3 new scrapes that absolutely were not there on Saturday. Thought they were mock scrapes, but no one in area.
