I have only seen 3 doe and 3 yearlings, all strolling along inside the tree line off the edge of a bean field. Sat Saturday evening and Sunday evening, and saw them Sunday evening at 6:36 PM. I am hopeful the weather cools off for this weekend. Waiting on heading back out until I receive the Thermacell in mail. Never used one, but it has to be better than getting eaten alive!!!

Not much yet. Four sits and only saw deer Sunday morning.
Sunday morning I took my youngest daughter. She is wanting to kill her first with a compound and ditch the crossbow. We had 2 does bust us and 2 fawns come to 3 yards. I was proud of her as she elected to let the fawns walk. Later we had a 1 1/2 year old buck come to 15 yards. I thought we were going to have her first bow kill, but as hunting goes it didn't go as planned. A hunting lesson for her.
It has been warm. My cameras are showing movement at first light and well after dark. Although I jumped in a stand yesterday evening and was scrolling through cam pictures on my phone using a card reader. Wouldn't you know it a real nice 11 pointer was right there at about 11:00 yesterday morning ... LOL.

That's about how it usually works. I've seen a lot of trail cam pics of decent bucks in the heat of of the day getting a drink out of an overflow pond, but I'm not gonna be in a tree at 2-3 in this heat. Most of stand locations are on field edges or I have to walk along Fields to access them. So, I'm trying to hold off on mornings until the chase begins.

Had a 1.5 yr old doe by me this Am.... close, but no cupie doll ..... Due to work, mornings have been it....warmer weather has set back in till Sat. ....I'll wait till then.... I finally got refills for my thermacell...hard to hunt early season with out one .... sucks having to hunt state F&W areas again to an extent...I miss the private lands I used to hunt... if I cant have the private to myself, I might as well hunt the state lands and save the $$....

Had a cool encounter with a 3 yr old 8 other this evening. I had just climbed down and got out of my summit and looked to the left, and he was making a scrape between the tree line and bean field about 30 yards in front of me. I was on my knees tucked in behind a tree top that I cut down about a month ago for a shooting lane. He kept looking behind him as if something was following but I didn't see anything. He slowly made his way about 10 yards in front of me before he saw me. I waved at him as he was on the trail headed right toward me. He saw me, did the head bobs 2 or 3 times and jumped off into the tree line. I sat until i couldnt see my pins, but had no intention of drawing back on him anyhow. He was the 3rd buck I saw tonight. Had a forkie walk under the tree about 630, and a nice mature buck was booking it through the beans as I was driving down the lane. What an awesome night for so early in the season. I'll be in the same Tree before daybreak tomorrow. Good luck to everyone. Safety first.
