Kids, Dogs and Squirrels!

Last Saturday mourning, the Indiana DNR, the Hoosier Treedog Alliance and the Fulton County Coonhunters Club sponsored a Youth Squirrel Hunt Event. 30 kids age 17 and under joined in. 7 dog handlers and guides took groups of 4 to 5 kids to the woods. Close to 100 squirrels were harvested and the kids skinned and processed them. Lotta happy faces!

Our group of 5 kids killed 13 squirrels and saw some truly outstanding dog work.

Nicely done. Kids surely had a really good time. Good thing about the squirrel dogs is they are much more manageable then the coon dogs. The guy next door to the farm we used to own had both coon dogs and a good squirrel dog. Seldom had pictures of him trespassing with he was running the squirrel dogs but frequently when he was coon hunting.

That's great!!! I'm sure the kids had fun! I know I would have!!!! Love watching tree dogs work.
