Africa day 1 and day 2 and day 3 and day 5 - 10/17/2016 09:35 PM

We hunted gemsbok today and they are very wary. Luke had a monster gemsbok in range 7-8 times but it was too thick for a good shot. Our first day in Africa was awesome. Here are some pics:

Day 2 update. We started hunting this morning around 5:30am and about 30 minutes in I had a good shot opportunity at this blesbuck. I took him at 150+ yards. As i shot it moved forward at the same time I squeezed and I shot it back. We went up and tracked it and I saw it 75 yards ahead and dropped it.

Luke shot this warthog at 75 yards and basically blew it apart with the 30-06. It was a good hog with 8" tusks. This is fun but I am worn out due to lack of sleep. Luke was a trooper today. We hunted 12 hours non-stop in the heat and rode it out. W will do it again tomorrow.

I am also posting some other pics as well.

Day 3 was a great success - again!! We started the morning going after the gemsbok from 2 days ago. It is a really old bull and I nicknamed him Houdini because he would just disappear. We walked 7-8 kilometers this morning according to our guide and had the bull at 300 yards once but no shot. We started again after lunch and got on the bull again. This time we had him pegged and Luke shot him at 125 yards the first time with a perfectly place shot. He went and bedded down then got up and Luke nailed him again at 300 yards and the tough bull ran again we caught up with him at 50 and Luke nailed him again. All shot were good ones. Here is the gemsbok bull after recovery. We worked for 2 days for this guy. Also in a pic is our tracker/skinner Edson and Jessie the killer dog.

Well, I though Luke was done for the hunt but he received a surprise - a chance at a great Impala. He dropped it as it was facing him at 160 yards.
