2013 Turkey Trip

Me and Romer headed down to Sullivan & Greene Co. to do some turkey hunting over this past week...

STRUTTER!

Tuesday evening we laid eyes on a pair of gobblers together near our set-up, and they double gobbled as they headed
off to roost. So we returned Wednesday morning hoping to double-up. Had only one bird gobbling near us, wondering where
the other Tom was.... anyway, he came out in the fog and slipped by us not expecting his selected route into the clearing.
The next time he gobbled, he had already PASSED our set-up, and in a hurry! I threw in my mouth call to let him know
he had just past a lonely hen looking for love, and to please come back and court me. Sure enough, he noticed the hen deke
through the dense fog and came back strutting his stuff.... he put on a great show strutting a full circle around the deke... until Mike laid down the hammer on him!!

Congrats on the bird. Growing up in Greene County, it always makes me proud to see folks harvesting birds there.

I remember when I was younger that the only time we would see a turkey is when we were on the Crane base. Now when I am passing through I see them just about everywhere.
