As a land owner, do I need a license to hunt / kill a turkey on my own place?

Is there a check in procedure if successful?

DO NOT need a license on your own property. Check in is the same as deer.

Yea you can check it in either at the nearest checki-in station or I believe you can check it in online throught this DNR link!
