Expect plenty of company!

I deer hunt there most every year and see turkeys at times but most of them are on private property. It might be to your benefit to hunt after the first 5 days. h.h.

Ticks are definitely worse in southern part of the state. Always get a few when fishing around the strip pits, but rarely get one up home.

Use Sawyers permithren spray on your clothes. Works great. And I speak from experience, getting Rocky mtn spotted fever two seasons ago, hunting in Crawford and Perry. I would seriously think about bass boat/jon boat hunt and do some crappie fishing too. The woods shouldn't be too crowded but you open up a lot of ground via a boat and good maps. You can hear a long way on the lake in the am and get on one. Then fish if it don't work out. Mid morning locator call in the back of a cove can be very effective. And don't forget to hunt for some mushrooms too!

And I'd pick wed thurs fri over Sat and Sun on public if I had the option. Just my .02 but there's usually more hunters on public during the weekend.

a boat would be very helpful to get away from the crowds and get on some birds
