I shot a 3 year old Tom on Tuesday morning in a public hunting area located in Hoosier National Forest near Spurgeons Corner. Birds were very active from the roost. Walked into the field with heavy fog and set up my blind and decoys. I had 3 toms come to my left but stayed 80-90 yards away, gobbling at my Bmobile. They walked over into a private area and things got quiet. Took in some coffee and mini buns, when my bird started to hammer away from 8-8:30. I talked with him softly than shut up. I realized he got quiet and figured he may come my way. Focusing to my right into the property line, he came out. Once he was in the open field, he went to full strut, began drumming and spiting. He walked in full strut into my set up and I smoked him at 23 yards with Winchester Longbeards XR's. He went down where without kicking! He weighed in at 20lbs. 9 ounces, 10.25" beard and 25 mm spurs. I'll post some pics later on. This was my second bird, since 2005, so it's been a long dry spell, but I called him in and worked the bird. Breasted out the meat last night, and the usual trophies and also going to save the spurs and wings. This was a very memorable event.

Welcome to the forum comfortconnect, love that story. I'm an old school public land hunter myself. Congrats on a great job. 76 puts out a great point tho...... B careful w that B mobile! But........between me, you and the fence post I've done it a very few select times waaayyy back and midweek. But never successfully fer what it's worth. Again, welcome aboard.
