Drummer Boy!! (Long read)

On Thurs. evening (5-2-13) I head out turkey/mushroom hunting on a piece of property that I've had luck in the past on finding some mushrooms, but never any luck on turkey! I'm taking my time walking along the field edge almost to the woods so I stop and call a little..no answer, so I keep looking for shrooms on into the woods. As I start up the thick hillside toward a dying tree I stop and call again, this time a little louder and some aggressive cuts..nothing!! A few more steps and there's the first shroom of the evening, so I lean my gun against the tree and start scouring the area. As I'm looking around I hear something but didn't think much of it, I keep looking around and I hear it again...still couldn't make out what or where it was coming from. Finally a stick snapped and I hear it again and THIS time it clicked...that's a turkey drumming you idiot!! By now I'm about 15 yds from my gun down at the bottom of the hill, so I scramble toward my gun throwing on my headnet...grab my gun and plop down against a log and shoulder my gun. Here he comes all strutted up..white head a bobbin' at 20 yds and closing, unfortunately I have a sappling in the way and can't move my gun over enough for a shot! I have one chance to make this happen..I have a tree the size of a telephone pole about 8 yds away from me in between him and I..he gets behind it at 10 yds and I swing my gun up over the sappling but can't get it shouldered completely(pointing toward the sky),now there's nothing between him and I at 10 yds, he sees something he doesn't care for and turns around going back behind the tree so I lowered my gun and when he stepped out from behind the tree he met my #5's..10 yd shot!! My first time experiencing a tom drumming only and no gobbling!! 23 lbs. 10 3/4 in. beard 7/8 in. spurs. Sorry for the long read!!
