Soybean Plot - 08/06/2013 02:26 PM

I planted this 1/2 acre soybean plot this spring. The plants are eaten down to 6-8" and started blooming. I used a 2 row corn planter and messed up by not drilling them which would make more rows of beans.

The other day I ran a disc through the middle and will plant turnips there. Around mid-Oct I will disc up the beans and plant winter wheat. Winter wheat and turnips have worked very good from me the last 8-10 years. h.h.

Did you get plenty of rain for the field?

Sure did, just over 3.5 inches Friday night. If I had drilled these beans maybe they would be bigger. The deer are eating right down the rows, keeping the beans short. But the reason I planted the beans was for deer food.

Im waiting until any weeds spring up in the disc area, then spray them with Round Up before I plant the turnips. Ive had a lot of problem with foxtail in this plot. h.h.
