How are prices there on balls powder and flints?

Balls and flints aren't bad. Buy good English flints. You have to be an NMLRA member to purchase powder. Last I heard real Black was around $22 a pound. I usually buy Swiss, which runs a bit more. I might be mistaken, but I believe "The Outdoorsman" in Greenwood may carry black powder. It's getting harder to purchase from the local shops due to Federal guidelines for storage.

i have about a half pound of 3f left. Its in a can with a coast to coast sticker for $4.75 lol Gotta be at least 40 yrs old. My flint so wore I had to turn it around backwards to get good spark today. Love this rocklock though. fun times for sure

Nice flinter, too bad you can hunt with it here in Indiana.

Not to hijack your post but here is a picture of the T/C 54 Hawken I bought from tatoo on here. I completely refinished the stock and reblued the barrel, plus I repaired all the minor flaws. The gun doesn't even look like the one I bought. This gun is for sale if anyone if interested. h.h.

the rocklock is a custom my dad won at a historical society raffle. cost him $10

wound up with a 50 renegade caplock in my search the other day. need #11 primers to make it go bang though. time to check out gander i guess smile

trapperdave, my t/c 54 likes 70fff, 230 rb and mink oil patch. your renegade should like this load too since the barrels are the same 1-48 twist. h.h.

No it won't. His roundballs are going to weigh less than your .54.

true weed.......i had a brain fart, forgot his is a .50 and roundballs weigh 175 grn. h.h.

I have a 54 hawkin and have always done well with 80gr.,FFF and Maxi-balls a little messy but boy do they perform I have a mold for the Maxi Balls and make my own I have a kitgun, Got it done enough to shoot and finished" Makes Em Pay" in the tree stand
