FWCC meeting 1/12/2013 - 01/13/2013 07:08 PM

A couple of issues discussed at yeasterdays meeting............

Escaped deer from Pennsylvania CWD positive farm:

NONE of the escaped deer from the Seymour Indiana farm were harvested during deer season. Yellow tag deer #47 is a large buck that was purchesed from Pennsylvania, the farm has tested positive for CWD. If these deer are not found all deer in the pen will be depopulated, several does are also missing.

IDNR will soon set trail cameras trying to locate these missing deer.

Questions asked is where is funding coming from for this mess, From Indiana, no Federal money left for CWD control.

License increase..........

IDNR projects a $3 million deficet for next five years. Intend to raise ALL licenses/stamps(resident) by an average of $5.00 each. Non resident will be higher increase. Projected in crease will be by April 1.

IDNR was challenged to look hard at commercial licenses. This would take legislative action as they still control costs there.

NO, There has been no increase in several years.Gas price has increased as well as several other expenditures. Vehicles have been extended from 75,000 miles to over 150,000, trade in value has went to almost zero. There is an annual pay increase of 2%, nothing.......

The increase in license fees will ONLY keep IDNR at present levels. No additional hiring and no additional management practices..........

Shingle:

We also discussed the supressor bill, no impact, so no problem.......... No sportsmen groups will comment as well as no IDNR. You are responsible for how it moves.....

Let all of the hunters know that the increase in liscense sales is to pay for the Deer Farmers and their RISKY BUSINESS. That way maybe we can get enough people to bitch and shut these Zoos down. lol

I wont lie to support a license fee increase...........

What everyone needs to know is any funding for CWD monitoring IS coming from sportsmen dollars!

Let me put this in perspective. Wisconsin is spending 4 million dollars a year on CWD. IDNR is at a negative 3 million dollars per year, with no CWD......

You guys do the math.......... No Federal money to pay for CWD monitoring....

Here is the bill fullrut references....http://www.in.gov/legislative/bills/2013/IN/IN1194.1.html

You all want to prevent a $4 million dollar expense, tell your legislator to not vote for this bill.

IDHA has committed to cost of cameras to attempt to locate the missing ear tagged deer. We are waiting to hear what IDNR requires.....

Does the IDNR keep all the money they generate?

Until hunters are educated about CWD and it's effects, the general population of hunters will care less until it hits their personal backyard. Sad, but true.

Let's get these deer pens shut down!

Yes the license fees are a dedicated fund o IDNR, now........... The legislature has to approve their budget.

Do they also keep other revenue generated such as park entrance fees and fines for wildlife violations?

They do not receive very much money from game law violations. The majority of that money goes to the local prosecutor and judge. They do keep the park entrance fee monies to operate the parks.

Thanks, I just want to make sure if they increase fees it doesn't go to some other agency. They need to change the law so all the money from game violations are given to the IDNR.

They will never change that law...think about it - local politicians taking money out of their own pockets to benefit a state agency? Never gonna happen.
