New legislation - 01/05/2013 10:12 AM

Bills are starting to appear in the hopper of the statehouse. I'll try and keep an eye on new bills as they surface. Here are a couple of the new ones folks might be interested in:

SB106 - senior lifetime hunting license
SB097 - Possession of firearms on state property
SB199 - Using silencer when hunting

The listing of bills is found here:

http://www.in.gov/apps/lsa/session/billwatch/billinfo?year=2013&request=all

Click on the bill for the entire explanation.

References wild hogs but not sure what this redefining will do.

2 more interesting bills today:

HB1194 would allow high fence deer preserves
SB413 would create a a new Fish & Wildlife Commission

Re: New legislation - 01/10/2013 05:35 PM

Would've been a little disappointed if HB1194 didn't show up. Can't expect them to give up.

Jack, I wouldn't be surprised if you were right on this. The Renfro Show is coming and it's the biggest opportunity for sportsmen during the year to create an impact, but they won't.

Lack of people stepping up to oppose it.

May not even get a hearing...why create a new commission when they've spent the last 8 years eliminating them. Just not very likely to pass.

This is what it says," A BILL FOR AN ACT to amend the Indiana Code concerning health."

Re: New legislation - 01/11/2013 09:33 AM

Sorry. I'm not following you.

EDIT:

Sorry....I made a typo. It's SB463. It gets confusing trying to follow 30 bills at once.

Guess im getting old.. i fought for goose pond befire most knewof about it.. i support the project and im staggered. By the cost.. then again im staggered by the cost of everything

Re: New legislation - 01/14/2013 10:14 PM

$3.5 is ridiculous. Even with site work, surface parking, sufficient septic, disability access requirements and other regulatory needs, $3.5 seems like a heck of a lot. i wonder what the facility at Muscatatuck cost.

Re: New legislation - 01/16/2013 07:59 PM

GREAT NEWS!!!!

SB614 - adds $1 mandatory fee to deer license for funding of Sportsmens Benecolent Fund to feed the hungry.

http://www.in.gov/apps/lsa/session/...=1&request=getBill&doctype=SB&docno=0614

Re: New legislation - 01/16/2013 08:53 PM

This hasn't passed yet though? I'm actually not for this. I'm a lifetime but I don't think there needs to be another mandatory fee.

Re: New legislation - 01/16/2013 09:05 PM

I'm OK with it, but don't believe a guy who buys multi Lic. should have to pay this fee on every type of Hunting Lic. he buys!!!

One fee per Hunter MAX....IMO

Out of state Lic. should be a $2....with one Fee max

Re: New legislation - 01/16/2013 09:14 PM

Ill donate a buck for life...cant think of a single thing i hunt and fish with that only costs a buck.... but thats not the point anyway

Re: New legislation - 01/16/2013 09:18 PM

If I interpret it correctly SB 614 (read last 2 lines) says the $1 fee applies to "when a hunting license is sold," which could mean any and all hunting licenses, whether for deer or something else.

Re: New legislation - 01/16/2013 09:31 PM

The very small liberal bone in my body says so what?
I cant walk to my gunsafe without it costing me a buck...

Oops scratch that.. i dont own any guns...

Re: New legislation - 01/16/2013 09:57 PM

I'd rather see it charged on the back end, at check in via the internet. Now, that would affect lifetime guys also, but at least it would be upon harvest.

Re: New legislation - 01/16/2013 10:00 PM

Pay it on both sides.. two bucks.. good cause..simple

I'm reading it the same way. I'm glad Senator Steele is running with this one as it has a good chance of happening now. When we originally proposed this we had it as mandatory and the legislators didn't want another fee so they changed it to "voluntary". Last year they collected about $100 and I donated $10 of that.

Keith, you're becoming a certified liberal. Hey, shopping can do that! LOL. I see an evening of wine and painting in your future.

Re: New legislation - 01/17/2013 04:58 PM

As a lifetime license holder, I owe nothing. I would gladly "donate" a dollar, but I am not going to be forced to.......
Posted By: whitetaildave24

Re: New legislation - 01/17/2013 05:54 PM

As a single season license buyer I don't feel I "owe" anything and should not be forced to put forth the extra $1 either. I kill enough deer for my family and that's it. Why should I pay for others that kill and donate the deer to a processor who. $1 isn't going to bankrupt anyone, but the fact of being forced to do this is what gets to me.
