Mushrooms 2014 - 04/04/2014 10:21 AM

With all the snow and rain we have been getting, I'm predicting mushrooms as big as Bar Stools this year. About 2 more weeks, they are finding a few in KY and Tenn now.

I sure hope you're right Shelby. Plenty of moisture and the woods is packed down good. Just need some warm weather and it should pop.

I saw late next week its supposed to hit 70? we will need it to warm up and then they are saying more storms on the 16th and 17th so that should be perfect to get them popping up.

Some of our friends from church are going mushroom hunting, like they did last year when they ran into a wild boar. When I first heard this I was like "what...in Randolph county???" but it turned out that they saw one and this year they are gonna carry a rifle on em. Bacon for breakfast and sausage for dinner

I found 6 little greys today under a crabapple tree in our yard. I'm going to try Hornharvesters trick and put a gallon jar over one and see what happens. Hope we get rain tonight.

Nice find!
I love to mushroom hunt, that's about the only time I can get my wife to go to the woods with me. They are so elusive, and fun to find. I just wish the season was a little longer.
