Attention Trout Anglers - 03/28/2014 04:01 PM

Spring is really here. I have seen it with my own eyes, trout being stocked in a Central Indiana State Park lake. Time to buy a stamp and catch my Friday meal. Good luck to all.

I like all 3. Been a long time since I have eaten grouse. My grandma fixed some I shot in WV when I was younger - I thought it was very good.

I used to go to a Youth Pastors conference in Colorado every year for about 6 years. The 1st year several went fishing for part of a day that free time and we caught a bunch of trout. I cooked the trout on a grill for about 50 guys for supper that night. They LOVED it and it became an annual thing.

Grouse is a King's meal, closely followed my quail!!! Trout is just ok to me.

Quail, grouse and lastly trout for me.

Quail are mild and taste good no mater how you fix the.

Ive eaten many a grouse and no matter how long I cooked them the breast are tough. Great flavor but tough meat.

Trout is an oily fish and kind of fishy. the best way Ive found to cook them is broil and squeeze lemon on them. Smoked trout is good to.

We may try the pit here in Lafayette tomorrow afternoon. Never caught one or cleaned one so hopefully we can catch a couple.

Easy to clean. Cut from butthole to the throat take your thumb and scrape out all the insides. Wash them good and put them on the grill or in oven with butter and lemon. Cover with foil if wanted.

We caught 7 over the weekend. I caught my limit in 40 minutes. Took my 8 year old back and he landed two. Was going tonight but didn't make. Hoping tomorrow to see if any more will hit. First trout I have ever caught.
