Got Buck Measured - 12/23/2019 02:11 AM
The 60-day drying period was over on my whitetail so I had him officially measured.
Gross score of 156-2/8 inches. That included 5-7/8 inches of non-typical burr points above the bases, and 3-1/8 inches for symmetry.
Final score of 147-2/8 for Pope & Young.
This was the heaviest horned archery buck I've been fortunate enough to take, with both base circumferences measuring 6-2/8" after drying.
Seems to be an old buck with heavy wear on the teeth. I would guess he was 7.5 yrs but it would be interesting to have his teeth cementum-annuli aged to know for sure.
