YOUTH WEEKEND - 09/29/2019 01:19 AM

Do we have any successful youth hunters from today?

Saw a bunch of tickled smiling faces on social media from opening youth day....... do we have any here?

Love seeing the young ones enjoying the outdoors!!!

That's AWESOME T-700!
Congratulations to her on her first deer... of many to come hopefully! And congrats to you as well on a memory of a lifetime!
Are y'all back out today after a buck for her? If so, good luck to you guys out there!
BTW, that's a great looking rifle she's got there!

No not today.
She just woke up, flat wore out.
Lol
That rifle, is a Ruger American with a vortex scope.
It’s her rifle.
I was sighting it in for her one day at a club range I belonged to and decided to shoot it at 500 yds.
Of course the other guys were teasing me about the color of the rifle but after I started banging steel at 500 they quieted down. Lol
I just wanted to see what it could do at 500
She loves that camo and has it on her bow as well.

How do you like the Vortex optics?
Do you have any of their other products by chance?

Re: YOUTH WEEKEND - 09/30/2019 03:49 AM

I think the vortex optics are decent optics, to be honest in my rifle scopes I prefer Leupolds and will be upgrading her vortex to a leupold next spring
It doesn’t quite have the light gathering that the leupold scopes do in the evenings.
Other than that I really like their warranty and customer service.

Congrats to all that got out.

For the first time in 12 years, I had no one to take. Both of my daughters have aged out. I offered to take an Ohio youth that always comes over for gun season, but he had soccer games. I think next year one of my nephews will finally be ready to start hunting, so that is my plans heading forward.

I know of 2 youth hunters who both killed deer last weekend. One was a 7pt buck shot by a 13 yr young lady. Both hunters are very proud of their deer. Congrats to them and all the rest of the successful youth hunters! h.h.

He was lifting weights and got a finger caught between bar and the squat rack.

thanks guys! He was really bummed about missing youth season but should be ready for the last couple weeks of early archery/ firearms season. It will be his first season hunting with a compound bow.

Ouch, sorry to hear that. I had hernia surgery the day before Thanksgiving last year. I only went out on opening weekend.

I took a buddy and his son down to Brookeville since they have never been there. Had the whole area to ourselves but did not get anything.
