Where is the listing of state parks that are being hunted this year? I know once you get in to apply it tells you but I don't have my license yet and just want to know which parks are available.

I can't see the list any more since I registered.

I do know shades and turkey run are NOT being hunted this year. I believe brown county is on the list.

Can't believe WhiteWater is on again - last yr for hunt two there were VERY few killed.

Re: Reserved hunt applications are up - 07/02/2014 10:21 AM

it is all calculated with a simple formula, harvest per 'hunter effort' meeting or exceeding a thresh hold level which determines if the park is to have a reduction the following year.

Totally objective decision process.

Another thing to keep in mind is that the first hunts nearly always yield many more deer than the second.

The same goes for New Harmonie State Park. I hunted there last year and when we left the Park Personnel said that so few were killed they couldn't imagine having a hunt this season.

Not sure what the DNR reasoning is for continued hunting in some parks but for habitat to really recover, they need to knock the herd down aggressively and probably keep it down for a few years.

Makes sense Delaney. I know at end of day Monday of the second hunt at WW there were prob 6-8 deer killed total and two of those were mine. They said not many killed on first hunt either. Was just surprised still hunting it this yr but you make a valid point. Gonna try my luck on a brown county hunt. May regret it since I know the other park so well.
