10am 2pm - 11/09/2013 04:02 PM

Ok fellas I know alot of guys on here always say one of the best times to be in the woods is between 10 and 2. Well I will say I do believe that but every year for the past 10 years or so I have been doing some all day hunts and I can tell you it has never produced for me. I can actually say I have never seen a deer during those 'Magical hours". Now I don't doubt there are many guys that see tons of deer during this time frame and I am sure have harvested great bucks during this time. If I do see a deer it is in the first 2 hrs of daylight or the last hour in the evening. I pulled my cards again today and all the bucks still are moving at night time. No chasing yet and the small bucks are just starting to move. I have not seen a shooter yet. Which is 130 in my book. I will keep at it and maybe the deer Gods will shine upon me sometime.

Yeah I was wondering why I continue to wake up so early if all the deer movement is between 10 and 2. There a few days a year I'm willing to sit all day. Sunny skies 60-70 degrees and high winds like today, not so much.

I have a hard time sitting all day too when it is a bright sunshinny day out and windy like today. I can sit all day easier when it is cloudy or even misting rain.

Yeah those cameras are good but they really can whizz a feller off. I had a camera out on my small turkey plot this spring and i was getting a big tom on pics everyday. Well i hunted that spot wed morning and eve. Thurs morning and eve. Friday morning and he did not show. I went to a different spot Friday eve. I pulled my card a few days later and guess what was on the pics friday eve. Yep. Big ole Thomas turkey strutting his stuff right in front of my blind. Dabnabbit!!!

BTTW - that should be enough data to get out to your urban spot ASAP! Unless your wife or something is preventing you from hunting.

Shot my biggest buck ever a couple of years ago at noon while I was walking out. It was chasing a doe. Also got a picture of him a few days before that around 12:30. Saw two small bucks right around 11 a couple of days ago.

I went out with my son Saturday. We left our house at 1 p.m. It takes us about 20 minutes to walk to the blind, that we were hunting. We stopped and changed cards out of three food plots on our way. Once we got settled at about 1:45, a doe immediately came into the food plot we were hunting. Less than five minutes later a really good shooter buck ran a doe into another food plot that we could see from our blind. Then, no action until dark when five more came out. We hunted Friday evening, a plot that we had been saving for gun season and at 5:50 buck came into that plot with his nose to the ground, worked a scrape, and was gone in a minute and a half. By the way, he was a shooter also. Those are my son's words and I will let him shoot anything, but I would also call them shooters.
